HOUSES WITH TRADITIONAL NAMES
AYIREBI ACQUAH HOUSE
Named after Nana Ayirebi Acquah III OBE
Paramount chief of the Effutu Traditional Area (1919-1941)
He was the Co-chairman, Ghana education Trust Fund, He brough the school under the Ghana education Trust and championed the cause for providing the school with new buildings.

AYENSUA HOUSE
Named after Princess Ayensua, a daughter of King Bortse Komfo Amu (1712 – 1747), the last priest king of Simpa. Effutu Traditional Area.

GYATOWA HOUSE
Named after Princess Gyatowa, ancestral member of the Simpa royal family, it is the feminine of Gyarteh (Ghartey).

HOUSES NAMED AFTER HEADMASTERS

DOWUONA – HAMMOND HOUSE –
Named after Hon Alfred Jonas Dowuona-Hammond (17th June 1920 – 13th August 1998). He was the founder and first headmaster of Winneba Secondary School from 1951 -1957
He was a member of the Gold Coast Legislative assembly representing Winneba from 1957 – 1966.
He was Ghana’s Second Minister of education after independence from 1960 – 1964 after J B Ezuah and the Minister of transport and communication from 1964 – 1966.
He was a brilliant scholar, educationist, statesman and a philanthropist. He was a pillars of mentorship and sources of pride and the School acknowledged this.

OKLU HOUSE
Named after Mr. Benhard Kwaku Oklu, headmaster of the school between 1961 and 1972. It was in the tenure of Mr. Oklu that the school moved to its current site.
He belonged to the paradigm of well-behaved educationists.

YARNEY HOUSE
Named after Mr. G.E. Yarney. He was the headmaster of the school between 1997 and 2005. It was largely as a result of the role he played in the construction of the huge edifice that had the house named after him.
HOUSES NAMED AFTER PAST STUDENTS

NUNOO- MENSAH HOUSE
Named after Brigadier-General Joseph Nunoo-Mensah. He was a student of the school between January 1957 and June 1960. He was the Senior Prefect of the school in 1960.
Brigadier General Nunoo-Mensah solicited a Japanese grant for the construction of the house. It was, in the main, his keen interest in the development of the school that made the house named after him.

YANKAH HOUSE
Named after Professor Kwesi Yankah (Abraham Yankah). He was a student of the school between 1964 and 1969. He became Board Chairman of the school between June 2007 and February 2014. To honour him for his great contribution towards the development of the school, the house was named after him.

HOUSES NAMED AFTER POLITICAL HEADS.
AGGREY HOUSE
Named after Dr. James Emmanuel Kwegyir Aggrey, a foremost educationist in the Gold Coast.

NKRUMAH HOUSE
Named after Dr. Kwame Nkrumah for his role in the establishment of the school, the house was named after Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the first president of Ghana.

AGYARE HOUSE –
Named after Mr. Kofi Agyare, the propaganda secretary of the C.P.P, Winneba Constituency, who largely assisted in the founding of Winneba Secondary School. The current school post office box number was donated to the school by Mr. Agyare.
